There are two TET tracks spanning Lithuania
The Centre track covers the biggest range of different surfaces available in Lithuania. Some say that track gets harder and harder as one moves from North to South. This track is suited for people who are not in a rush or who like to get dirty. Don‘t worry, it‘s nothing like a mud fest or anything like that, but there are areas that require your time and can be difficult after heavy rainfall. But don‘t you worry, if you will open your eyes and look at the map, you will be able to see detours or alternative routes if you don‘t feel comfortable tackling a challenging part. "What tire should I use?" you ask? Knobblies are more suitable for this track, yet as always - 50/50 tires will get you to the end as well.
While driving the Centre track there is a ferry that takes you across the river. Take a look at its operating hours. If you missed it or at the particular day it is not operating, take the long way around. It is also important to keep in mind that if you are heading from the North, after a ferry you will enter a forest. The same applies in heading from the South just before Kaunas region (KAZLU RUDA to be precise) - be cautious, the track is very engaging, but pick your speed carefully, there are lots of humps and bumps, roots and sand and you do not want to end up parked in a tree! Also, for all the reasons that you are there, there are other motorcyclists and ATV riders scouting through the forest, so be cautious on blind turns!
The East track is simpler but also gets harder in the Southern parts but only if you are not used to driving on sandy roads. For those who love driving on sand, this track should not cause any issues or challenges.
The terrain to expect:
Centre track: a lot of sand, mud, mild-deep river crossings, gravel, and stings of asphalt.
East track: gravel roads, that turn into a bit of sandy patches down in the South, deep river crossing (optional), stings of asphalt.
Enjoy the new tracks! And please don't forget to be responsible as sometimes you will be crossing farmer fields. Be polite and don't rip across fields. Stay on the path.
